Zoster is a music band from Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, founded in the autumn of 2000. Their sound blends reggae, alternative rock, ska, blues, and pop influences, creating a distinctive musical identity that carries messages of tolerance, peace, progressive values, and affirmation — often engaging with social issues. The band was initiated by vocalist and songwriter Mario Knezović, and while the lineup has evolved over the years, Zoster has remained known for expressive lyrics and a genre-crossing approach.
The name “Zoster” is inspired by the name of a virus that appears when immunity weakens, metaphorically reflecting societal vulnerability and the need for change. This symbolism underpins their artistic expression, where music serves not only as entertainment but also as a medium for reflection and dialogue on important themes.
Throughout their career, Zoster has released several studio albums, including Ojužilo, Festival budala, Imači kada, Srce uzavrelo, and their most recent album Najgori. Their repertoire spans a broad range of styles, evolving from reggae roots into alternative rock and other influences that reflect the band’s artistic growth. Zoster continually explores new creative directions while maintaining their standing as a respected and influential act in the regional music scene.
Zoster has performed at numerous regional and international festivals and concerts, captivating audiences with energetic performances and a strong stage presence. Their shows often combine musical experience with thought-provoking messages, making them a significant part of contemporary music culture.
