Vesna Pisarović, born on April 9, 1978, in Brčko and raised in Požega, began her musical journey early in life, playing the flute, singing in choirs, and participating in school competitions. Her first television appearance came in 1992, but her breakthrough arrived with a second-place finish at the Modri Biser festival. While studying Croatian language and phonetics in Zagreb, she balanced academics with her emerging music career, collaborating with artists such as Dino Dvornik.
Her breakthrough came in 2002 when she won the Dora national selection with "Everything I Want," representing Croatia at Eurovision. In the following years, Vesna released several successful pop albums like Da znaš, Za tebe stvorena, and Kao da je vrijeme..., firmly establishing her as a leading pop artist in the region.
In a bold move, she transitioned into jazz, studying jazz vocals in The Hague and London. Her first jazz album, With Suspicious Minds (2012), offered inventive reinterpretations of Elvis Presley classics. This was followed by Naša velika pjesmarica (2016), a jazz take on Yugoslav music classics, and Petit Standard (2019), an intimate jazz trio album recorded in a single session.
In June 2025, Vesna released Poravna, an experimental album blending Bosnian sevdah tradition with avant-garde jazz improvisation, featuring collaborations with prominent international musicians. She now resides between Berlin and Zagreb, actively performing, releasing innovative music, and engaging audiences with emotionally resonant, thoughtfully crafted artistry.
