Vatra is a Croatian rock-pop band originating from Virovitica, founded in the late 1990s, which has solidified its presence in the regional music scene over more than two decades. Led by frontman Ivan Dečak and backed by Irena Celio on keyboards, Robert Kelemen on lead guitar, Tomislav “Franjo” Šušak on bass, and Mario Robert Kasumović on drums, the band blends powerful rock instrumentation with melodic pop sensibility, appealing to a broad audience.
Their debut album Između nas (1999) marked a passionate and energetic entry into the music world. Subsequent albums—including Anđeo s greškom, Prekid programa, Aritmija, Sputnik, Ima li budnih, VT, and Zmajevi na vjetru—showcased their continued artistic growth and stage prowess. Singles like "Tango", "Vidi kako se smiješ", "Javi se kad stigneš", and "Slatke suze, gorka ljubav" became radio favorites and fan staples.
A standout collaboration with Damir Urban on the song "Tremolo" earned them a prestigious award for best vocal partnership. Vatra's dynamic live performances—ranging from intimate club settings to large outdoor venues, and even unique concerts on aircraft—have solidified their reputation for electrifying shows.
Rooted deeply in their hometown, Virovitica remains a core source of creative inspiration. With a rich discography and a loyal fan base, Vatra stands as a band that has steadfastly stayed true to its sound while mesmerising audiences through heartfelt, vibrant, and authentic musical expressions.
