Van Halen

Van Halen is an American rock band formed in the early 1970s in Pasadena, California, that revitalized hard rock through groundbreaking albums and dynamic live performances. Founded by brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen, the group soon included vocalist David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony. Eddie's virtuosity—especially his pioneering two-handed tapping technique—redefined guitar playing in rock music. Their debut album in the late 1970s was an instant hit and achieved diamond certification. What followed were albums like Van Halen II, Women and Children First, Fair Warning, and Diver Down, each one showcasing increasingly complex musicianship and diverse styles. The band reached its commercial apex with the album 1984, featuring blockbuster tracks like “Jump” that catapulted them to global stardom. In the mid-80s, after Roth departed, the band entered a new era with singer Sammy Hagar. This lineup produced four number-one albums and demonstrated artistic reinvention. The band later underwent further lineup changes, including a stint with Gary Cherone, and eventually returned to David Lee Roth as Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie's son) joined on bass, completing a full-circle transformation across decades.
