The Lemonheads are an American alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Boston. Founded by Evan Dando, Ben Deily, and Jesse Peretz, Dando has remained the band's only constant member. Initially influenced by punk and hardcore, they soon developed a distinctive sound blending melodic pop, grunge, and alt-country elements.
Their breakthrough came in 1992 with the album It's a Shame About Ray, which was critically acclaimed and commercially successful. The cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson" became one of their most recognized singles. Following this, the band continued their success with albums like Come on Feel the Lemonheads (1993) and Car Button Cloth (1996), further solidifying their status in the alternative rock scene.
After a hiatus, The Lemonheads reunited in 2005 and have since released several albums, including The Lemonheads (2006), Varshons (2009), and Varshons 2 (2019). The band is known for their energetic live performances and their ability to blend various musical genres into their unique sound.
