The Cranberries

The Cranberries were an Irish rock band formed in 1989 in Limerick. The band was founded by guitarist Noel Hogan, bassist Mike Hogan (Noel's brother), and drummer Fergal Lawler. Initially named The Cranberry Saw Us, they changed their name to The Cranberries after lead singer Dolores O'Riordan joined in 1990. O'Riordan's unique voice and emotional songwriting gave the band a distinctive identity. Their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? (1993), brought them international fame, with singles like "Linger" and "Dreams" becoming major hits. Their follow-up album, No Need to Argue (1994), featured their most famous hit "Zombie," which became an anti-war anthem and one of the band's most recognizable songs. Subsequent albums included To the Faithful Departed (1996), Bury the Hatchet (1999), Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (2001), Roses (2012), Something Else (2017), and In the End (2019). Each of these albums achieved commercial success and critical acclaim. The band disbanded in 2019 following the death of lead singer Dolores O'Riordan in 2018. While the remaining members pursued musical projects, The Cranberries remain remembered as one of Ireland's most significant musical acts.
