The Beat Fleet, also known as TBF, is a music group from Split, Croatia, active since the mid-1990s. Their style blends elements of hip-hop, rock, reggae, dub, funk, and electronic music, making it difficult to categorize them within a single genre. From the very beginning, they stood out for performing live with a full band, combining rap vocals with real instruments and samples. Their lyrics often carry strong social messages, infused with humor, irony, and local flavor.
They debuted with the album Ping-Pong (Umjetnost zdravog đira) in 1997, which gained cult status on the Croatian scene. This was followed by Uskladimo toplomjere in 2000, which solidified their reputation and brought them numerous accolades. Their breakthrough came with the 2004 release Maxon Universal, one of the most highly regarded albums in Croatian music history, which won multiple awards. They continued to evolve with Galerija Tutnplok in 2007 and Pistaccio Metallic in 2011, showcasing a unique ability to link local themes with universal messages.
TBF is equally renowned for their energetic live performances, winning audiences over with a powerful sound, intelligent lyrics, and spontaneous humor. Songs like “Nostalgična,” “Smak svita,” “Veseljko,” and “Alles gut” have become evergreens of Croatian urban music. Through their work, they have managed to transcend genre boundaries and secure a place as one of the most important and influential bands in the region.
