Songkillers is a Croatian funk and pop band founded in 1993 in Zagreb. The band began their musical journey at the "Saloon" club, performing covers of rock, soul, funk, and pop standards. In the early stages of their career, they collaborated with many prominent Croatian musicians, with a notable collaboration being with Dino Dvornik, for whom they served as a backing band in the early 1990s. Together, they recorded the live album Live In München in 1995, which became widely recognized in the Croatian music scene.
Although the band started as a backing group, it eventually evolved into an independent band led by Željko Banić Bane as the main composer, instrumentalist, and vocalist. Their music is characterized by a blend of funk and pop, with urban and sophisticated arrangements. Some of their well-known songs include "Ni'ko kao ti", "Molim sate", "Tako volim što te znam", and "Sreća".
Over the years, the band has featured renowned musicians such as Ante Pecotić on bass guitar, Predrag Martinjak on keyboards, Igor Geržina on saxophone, and Kristijan Zorian on drums. Later lineups included Gojko Tomljanović, Danko Krznarić, Ivica Premelč, and others.
The band’s discography consists of five studio albums: Fleka (1997), Cosmic (1998), Mislima (2002), Sreća (2005), and Sve je drugo igra (2008). The debut album Fleka produced hits like "Ni'ko kao ti" and "Ne znam gdje sam", the latter being featured in the soundtrack of the film Mondo Bobo. In 1998, the band won the Porin award for Best New Artist, and in 2015, they were nominated for a Porin for Best Vocal Collaboration for the song "Dio mene".
