Robert Cray

Robert Cray is an American blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter, born on August 1, 1953, in Columbus, Georgia. He grew up in Tacoma, Washington, where he developed a passion for music inspired by legends like Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker. His distinctive style blends traditional blues with elements of soul and rock. He began his career in the early 1970s and founded The Robert Cray Band in 1978. His international breakthrough came in the mid-1980s with the album Strong Persuader, which featured the hit single "Smoking Gun" and earned him great respect in the blues community. Over the years, he has released more than 20 albums, some of which have won prestigious music awards, including Grammys. Cray is known for his emotive vocals and virtuosic guitar playing that combines softness and power. He has collaborated with many great blues and rock artists and performed at numerous major festivals and tours worldwide.
