Raiven, the stage name of Sara Briški Cirman, is a Slovenian singer, songwriter, and harpist known for her distinctive fusion of pop, electropop, and opera. Born on April 26, 1996, in Ljubljana, she began her musical journey at the age of four and developed into a classically trained mezzo-soprano through formal education.
She studied harp and solo singing before completing both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in opera singing at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. Her achievements in classical music earned her several prestigious awards, including first prize at the Antonio Salieri International Harp Competition.
Raiven first gained wider recognition through Slovenia’s Eurovision national selection (EMA), where she placed second in 2016 with “Črno bel”, followed by strong results in 2017 and 2019.
Her artistic identity continued to evolve with the release of her debut album Magenta (2017), which received the Zlata piščal award, as well as later EP projects that blend contemporary pop with operatic elements. She is particularly known for her electro-opera concept, combining classical vocal performance with modern sound production.
In 2021, she won the prestigious Popevka festival with the song “Volkovi”, further establishing her presence on the regional music scene. Her international breakthrough came in 2024 when she represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Veronika”.
Today, Raiven stands out as an artist who pushes genre boundaries, merging opera, pop, and visual art into a distinctive and powerful artistic expression defined by strong aesthetics and originality.
