Prljavo kazalište is a rock band from Zagreb, Croatia, formed in 1977 in the Dubrava district. Initially a punk band, they soon transitioned to new wave and pop rock, becoming one of the most influential acts in former Yugoslavia. Their second album, Crno bijeli svijet (1980), is considered a cornerstone of the new wave movement, featuring hits like "Mi plešemo". Over time, they embraced mainstream rock, with songs like "Sve je lako kad si mlad" and "Mojoj majci" becoming generational anthems. After Davorin Bogović's departure, Mladen Bodalec took over as lead vocalist. The band is known for large-scale concerts, notably their 1989 performance at Republic Square in Zagreb before over 200,000 people. In 2023, internal divisions led former members to form a new lineup under the same name. Despite changes, Prljavo kazalište remains a symbol of the Croatian rock scene.
