Pocket Palma

Pocket Palma is a synthwave duo from Zagreb, formed in 2012 by Anja Papa and Luka Vidović. Initially known as Side Project, they released two dark-pop albums in English: Things Which No One Else Should Know About (2015) and Lonely Boys (2017). In 2019, they rebranded as Pocket Palma, shifted to creating music in Croatian, and embraced the nostalgic synth-pop sound of the 1980s. They released the EP Godišnji in summer 2019, then signed with Aquarius Records and released their self-titled debut album pocket palma. Their debut featured themes of mixtapes, flip phones, sunset neon, and emotional everyday metaphors, earning strong public and critical acclaim. The addition of guitarist Bruno Žabek enhanced their live performances and sonic energy. Their 2021 album Atomi further cemented their reputation in the regional electro-pop scene. In September 2023, they released their third studio album, III, featuring darker synth-pop themes of mental health and queer identity. It became their first album to reach number one on the Croatian sales chart. Pocket Palma are also celebrated for their thoughtfully crafted visuals—videos, styling, and stage presence are driven by the band with creative input from Benjamin Strike. As a proud queer duo, they authentically represent and empower the LGBTQIA+ community through their music and presence.
