Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd is an English rock band formed in London in 1965, celebrated for their experimental soundscapes, concept albums, and grand live performances. The original lineup included Syd Barrett (guitar and vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass and vocals), and Richard Wright (keyboards and vocals). After Barrett's departure in 1968, David Gilmour joined, becoming critical to the band’s evolving musical identity. Their debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967), captures the essence of psychedelic rock, while later concept albums like The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), and The Wall (1979) cemented their legacy. The Dark Side of the Moon remains one of the best-selling albums ever and a landmark of progressive music. Throughout the 1970s, Roger Waters emerged as the band's creative leader, steering them toward more political and introspective themes, especially on albums like The Final Cut (1983). After Waters' departure in 1985, David Gilmour continued to lead the band with albums such as A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994). Their final studio project, The Endless River, was released in 2014. Pink Floyd reunited for their final live performance at Live 8 in 2005 and then pursued individual endeavors. With over 250 million albums sold, their catalog continues to inspire musicians and fans across generations.
