Novi Fosili

Novi Fosili are a Croatian pop band formed in 1969 in Zagreb. They began as a backing band for vocal soloists, but by the early 1970s evolved into an independent act known for their own hits. Their music is characterized by memorable melodies, romantic themes, and a wide range of vocal harmonies and arrangements that resonated across the former Yugoslavia. A major turning point came in 1976 when composer and keyboardist Rajko Dujmić joined the band, sparking a creative wave. Songs like “Diridonda” propelled them into the top ranks of popular music in the region, while albums such as Nedovršene priče (1980) and Za djecu i odrasle further cemented their popularity. Over the years, the lineup shifted: Đurđica Barlović was the original lead singer, later replaced in 1983 by Sanja Doležal. Their repertoire includes enduring classics such as “Da te ne volim,” “Za dobra stara vremena,” “Šuti moj dječače plavi,” “Obriši suze, generacijo,” among many others—songs beloved across generations. The band remained active for decades and achieved status as a cultural icon in Croatian and regional pop music. On November 9, 2024, they held a farewell concert at Zagreb Arena, marking 55 years of their career. Although they no longer perform with the same intensity, their music continues to be part of performances, radio, television, and collective memory, with a legacy that endures.
