New York Gypsy All Stars

New York Gypsy All-Stars is a musical collective founded in the early 2000s in New York City, blending Balkan, Turkish, Romani, Indian, and Latin American musical traditions with jazz, funk, and electronic music. The band was formed through the collaboration of Macedonian clarinetist Ismail Lumanovski and Greek bassist Panagiotis Andreou. They were soon joined by Turkish musicians Tamer Pinarbasi on kanun and Engin Günaydin on percussion, as well as keyboardist Jason Lindner. Their musical style is characterized by energetic performances and a unique fusion of traditional Romani and Balkan melodies with modern genres such as jazz, funk, and electronica. Their original compositions often feature Balkan rhythms and ornamentations, creating sophisticated and passionate music that appeals to audiences worldwide. New York Gypsy All-Stars have released several albums, including notable ones like Romantech and Dromomania. They regularly perform at major festivals and concert halls across Europe and the USA, solidifying their reputation as one of today’s most exciting multicultural music groups.
