Mötley Crüe is an American heavy metal band formed in 1981 in Los Angeles. The band consists of Vince Neil (vocals), Nikki Sixx (bass guitar), Tommy Lee (drums), and Mick Mars (guitar). Their music combines glam metal, hard rock, and punk, and they are known for energetic performances and a controversial lifestyle.
The band gained popularity in the early 1980s with their album Too Fast for Love, followed by successful albums like Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain, Girls, Girls, Girls, and Dr. Feelgood. Their musical style and scandal-filled lives were often in the public eye.
Their autobiography The Dirt became a bestseller, and a film based on the book was released in 2019. Although they announced retirement from touring in 2015, they reunited in 2022. In 2024, they released the EP Cancelled with new guitarist John 5, who replaced Mick Mars.
