MGMT

MGMT is an American rock duo formed in 2002 in Middletown, Connecticut, consisting of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. They initially went by the name The Management before shortening it to MGMT. Their journey began with the EP Time to Pretend in 2005, and they signed with Columbia Records in 2006. Their debut album, Oracular Spectacular (2007), brought them global fame with singles like “Time to Pretend,” “Electric Feel,” and “Kids.” Their second album, Congratulations (2010), shifted toward a more experimental, psychedelic sound. The self-titled third album followed in 2013, while their fourth, Little Dark Age (2018), signaled a return to lush synth-pop. Their fifth studio effort, Loss of Life (2024), offers a more emotionally mature and optimistic tone. MGMT has earned critical and public acclaim—they were named “Artist of the Day,” listed among "Artists to Watch," and received Grammy recognition. The remix of “Electric Feel” won a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, and the band received nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.
