Meritas is a Croatian pop duo formed in 1996 in Zagreb by Anita Valo and Meri Jaman. The band’s name was created by combining their first names, and their musical journey began after returning from Munich. From the start of their career, they have stood out for their distinctive sound, emotional lyrics, and harmonious vocals, becoming some of the most-played artists on Croatian radio.
Their debut album, Skači, pleši, viči! (1997), introduced an energetic pop-rock style. This was followed by Igra (2000), which further solidified their position in the Croatian music scene. The third studio album, Na prvi pogled (2005), featured the hit “Odjednom ti,” a song that has since become a pop classic. In 2007, they released Meritas Unplugged, an acoustic album showcasing a more intimate side of their music, followed in 2008 by the live EP Live u Tvornici.
Marking twenty years of activity, they released Gle! (2014), an introspective and emotional work that confirmed their artistic maturity. More recent singles include “Pričaj mi” (2016) and “Ova ljubav” (2017), both of which gained significant radio airplay and received music award nominations.
Throughout their career, Meritas have collaborated with numerous musicians, performed at festivals, given solo concerts, and led workshops for young artists. Their music remains recognized for its emotional depth, sincerity, and strong songwriting identity.
