Leteći odred is a Croatian pop-rock band from Osijek, founded in 1991 by frontman and chief songwriter Denis Dumančić. They officially began their career in 1992 after being discovered and supported by Husein “Hus” Hasanefendić of Parni valjak fame.
Their debut album Među zvijezdama (1992) featured early hits like “Neka Neveni ne venu” and “Kao stari moj.” By the mid‑1990s, with albums like Kada odletim and Od Prevlake do Dunava, the band became a radio staple with songs such as “Sanjao sam moju Ružicu” and “Večeras je, dušo, rođendan tvoj.” They sold out Zagreb’s Dom sportova three times and released over ten albums, including live and best-of compilations.
Key albums of their early career include Vrijeme (1999), Daj mi sebe (2001), and Razglednice (2004), which yielded notable tracks like “Žao mi je,” “Ljubav nije matematika,” and “Non-stop.” After a break, they returned with Jutro poslije brijanja (2007) and the compilation Najbolje od odreda (2011).
In 2020, they released Uspomene, a career-spanning editorial statement of new and classic material. Their eleventh album, Zakon ljubavi, came out in late 2024, led by the single “Pritisni me,” showcasing their enduring blend of pop-rock with vibrant melodies and emotional warmth.
Denis Dumančić is recognized as one of Croatia’s most performed songwriters, having penned music for Massimo, Danijela Martinović, Ivana Banfić, Crvena jabuka, and many others. Leteći odred continues to connect with audiences through energetic live shows, timeless hits, and an evolving artistic identity cherished across generations.
