Leprous is a Norwegian progressive metal/rock band formed in 2001 in Notodden and led by vocalist/keyboardist Einar Solberg and guitarist Tor Oddmund Suhrke. Over two decades, they've cultivated a distinct sound—emotionally charged, technically intricate, and ever-evolving.
Early albums like Tall Poppy Syndrome (2009) and Bilateral (2011) showcased their technical mastery and progressive ambition. The Congregation (2015) marked a turning point with its heavier, more unified band-driven sound. Later releases—Malina (2017), Pitfalls (2019), and Aphelion (2021)—explored more personal, experimental terrain.
Their eighth studio album, Melodies of Atonement, arrived in August 2024 and stripped back the orchestral layers in favor of a more direct and powerful approach. Tracks such as “Atonement,” “Silently Walking Alone,” “Like a Sunken Ship,” and “Faceless” reveal a heavier, sharper direction infused with electronics and renewed intensity.
The current lineup includes Einar Solberg (vocals/keyboards), Tor Oddmund Suhrke (guitar), Robin Ognedal (guitar), Simen Børven (bass), and Baard Kolstad (drums). They've since supported the album with a global tour across North and South America and Europe, with plans to extend performances into 2025 in larger venues.
Leprous remain fearless musical explorers, consistently reinventing while maintaining an unmistakable identity. Revered for their compelling live performances and deep artistic integrity, they continue to challenge expectations and redefine what modern progressive music can sound like.
