Kings of Leon is an American rock band formed in 1999 in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. The group includes brothers Caleb (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jared (bass, backing vocals), Nathan (drums, backing vocals), and their cousin Matthew (lead guitar, backing vocals). They initially blended Southern rock and garage rock, evolving into a mature alternative rock sound.
Their breakout came with the 2008 album Only by the Night, featuring massive hits like “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody,” which catapulted them to international stardom. Subsequent albums include Come Around Sundown, Mechanical Bull, Walls, When You See Yourself, and their ninth LP Can We Please Have Fun released in May 2024 under Capitol Records.
The band has won four Grammys, including Record of the Year for “Use Somebody,” and sold millions of albums worldwide. They are celebrated for their emotive live shows and dedicated fanbase.
In summer 2025, lead singer Caleb Followill fractured his heel in a "freak accident," forcing cancellation of their European and UK festival tour—including their planned INmusic festival slot in Zagreb. After emergency surgery and an eight-week recovery, they made a triumphant return with three sold-out shows at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium in mid-July, culminating in a spontaneous collaboration with Zach Bryan and Bruce Springsteen performing “Atlantic City.”
The band resumed touring in August, appearing at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and continuing through the UK, Norway, and France. Kings of Leon remain resilient and creatively vibrant, proving their enduring connection with audiences despite setbacks.
