Joscelyn Eve Stoker, professionally known as Joss Stone, was born on April 11, 1987, in Dover, Kent, and raised in the rural village of Ashill in Devon. She began her musical journey early, winning the Star for a Night contest at just 13. Her debut album, The Soul Sessions (2003), recorded in a matter of days, catapulted her to fame as a genuine and remarkably talented soul singer.
Her follow-up album, Mind Body & Soul (2004), made her the youngest British female solo artist to top the UK Albums Chart, and featured the hit single “You Had Me.” Subsequent albums include Introducing Joss Stone (2007), Colour Me Free! (2009), LP1 (2011), Never Forget My Love, and the Christmas album Merry Christmas, Love (both 2022). With over 15 million records sold globally, she is among the best-selling British soul artists of her era.
Beyond her solo output, Stone joined the supergroup SuperHeavy, alongside Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, and Damian Marley. She also founded Stone’d Records in 2011 to champion artistic freedom and support independent musicians.
One of her most ambitious projects was the Total World Tour (2014–2019), during which she performed in nearly every UN-recognized country, including unusual destinations like North Korea, Yemen, and Iraq, earning her a rare world tour certification.
In her personal life, she married musician Cody DaLuz in October 2023 and is a mother of four: Violet (born 2021), Shackleton (2022), adopted son Bear (2024), and youngest daughter Nalima who arrived in June 2025. Based in Nashville, Stone balances her musical career with family life, activism, and entrepreneurial ventures.
