Joško Čagalj, known by his stage name Jole, was born on February 15, 1972 in Heilbronn, Germany, and raised in Zagvozd and Split, Croatia. He began performing in clubs in Split in the late 1980s and sang backing vocals for artists like Tedi Spalato, Vinko Coce, and Dražen Zečić. His debut album Jednina i množina (1999) paved the way for later releases such as Sve su žene lijepe (2001), Otključano! (2004), Odijelo (2009), and Remek djelo (2014).
Jole is widely known for his energetic performances and hit songs including Nosi mi se bijela boja, Duša od papira, Zove, zove, Jole, Jole, Jedna mala plava, Kada žene tulumare, Maksimalno, and Rasipnik. His reputation as the “king of entertainment” is built on large-scale concerts like those in Samobor and Zadar, where he has delighted crowds of thousands.
In 2020 he released the hit Fali meni ona, featuring a playful music video where he plays multiple roles—from gardener to butler—highlighting his theatrical flair. In 2023, he released a family-oriented song Sretan tebi rođendan, featuring his children Ivan Luka and Tija. Married to Ana since 2006, they have four children together.
Before his music career took off, Jole worked various jobs including as a gardener, waiter, and renting pedalos on the beach. Even today he continues performing live, creating joyful music, and connecting with fans. His career spans over three decades, rooted in love for performance, family, and entertainment.
