Ivana Banfić, known by her stage name I Bee, is a Croatian pop and dance icon who rose to fame in the early 1990s. Born in Zagreb, she began her musical journey in childhood, attending music school and singing backing vocals for top local artists as a teenager. Her debut came in 1990 with the single “Dođi,” followed by her first album Vozi me polako in 1991, marking her as Croatia’s pioneering dance-pop singer.
Banfić is known for provocative lyrics, catchy hooks, and dynamic performances. Hits like “Šumica,” “Imam te,” “Godinama” (a duet with Dino Merlin), and “Nag” made her a regional sensation. Her duet “Godinama” was awarded hit of the year in 2001, earning a prestigious music prize.
Beyond music, she earned a degree in psychology and integrative psychotherapy and founded her own singing school, “Glazbena kuća Banfić.” Married to TV producer Kruno Ladišić, they have a son, Jan, and live in the countryside where she engages in organic farming and therapeutic work. While she performs less frequently now, her recent single “Izgužvana svila” and occasional festival appearances keep her in the public eye.
Ivana Banfić remains a defining figure of Croatia’s transitional music scene, with her charisma, creativity, and resilience continuing to inspire new generations.
