Ivan Grobenski is one of the most distinctive voices of Croatia’s contemporary independent music scene. Long recognized within the underground circuit, he reached broader acclaim in 2020 with the release of Siromahi i Lazari, an album praised by both audiences and critics and hailed as one of the finest regional records of the year. Supported by the Siromahi i Lazari Group, Grobenski performed dozens of shows, including appearances at Waves Vienna and MENT Ljubljana, before the group disbanded to make way for his upcoming album Apocalipstick, due in October.
His career is marked by a wide range of collaborations with acts such as Moskau, The Gentleman, Eric, Anna Moor, Dimitrije Dimitrijević, Sara Renar, and Trobecove Krušne Peći, as well as production and recording work with Klinika Denisa Kataneca and Dimitrije Dimitrijević. Beyond studio albums, Grobenski has composed the soundtrack for the short film Odijelo, as well as the score for Dendrotaktilia, an audio-visual piece by Bojan Koštić. He also created Bušilice, a five-and-a-half-hour-long conceptual record accompanying a live performance of the same name.
Currently performing as part of the Moonlight Sessions Band, Ivan Grobenski continues to challenge genre boundaries with his mix of singer-songwriter sensibility, experimental sound, and social awareness — establishing himself as a bold and original figure in the regional music landscape.
