Iron Maiden is an English heavy metal band formed in 1975 in East London by bassist Steve Harris. The band is a pioneer of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and one of the most influential bands in the history of the genre. Their debut album Iron Maiden was released in 1980 and laid the foundation for their international success. The 1982 album The Number of the Beast, featuring Bruce Dickinson on vocals, is considered a turning point in their career.
In 1999, Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith rejoined the band, leading to a new era of success with albums such as Brave New World, Dance of Death, A Matter of Life and Death, The Final Frontier, The Book of Souls, and Senjutsu. The band is known for their spectacular live performances and strong fan engagement.
Iron Maiden has sold over 130 million albums worldwide and won numerous awards. Their mascot Eddie is a recognizable figure appearing on nearly all of the band's albums and concerts. The band remains active and plans a tour in 2025 to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
