Infected Rain is a metal band from Chișinău, Moldova, founded in 2008. Led by vocalist Elena “Lena Scissorhands” Cataraga, whose range moves seamlessly from melodic singing to guttural screams, and the guitarist Vadim “Vidick” Ozhog, the group crafts a sound that is both ferocious and nuanced.
Their music fuses elements of nu-metal, metalcore and alternative metal, anchored by groove-laden guitar riffs, dynamic drumming and atmospheric melody. The lyrical themes often revolve around personal struggle, identity, social tension and the weight of everyday life — delivered with intensity in both studio recordings and live performances.
Since their early EP in 2009, through full-length albums such as Asylum (2011), Embrace Eternity (2014) and 86 (2017), up to their latest release TIME (2024), Infected Rain have consistently evolved and expanded their sound. While the band’s line-up has seen changes, Cataraga and Ozhog remain at its core. Infected Rain demonstrate that metal can be emotional and technically demanding, while retaining a powerful and uncompromising edge.
