Hiljson Mandela, born Ivan Hilje on September 15, 1992, in Zagreb, is a Croatian rapper and singer-songwriter. His mother, Diana Hilje, is an opera singer. At age 16 he founded an alternative rock band called Prazna Lepinja, where he served as vocalist and saxophonist. Later, in 2013, he co-founded the trap group KUKU$, becoming one of the pioneers of the genre in Croatia.
His debut solo album, Mandela Effect (2022), was a major breakthrough. Tracks like “Još ovu noć” (feat. z++) and “McLaren” (feat. Rasta) dominated streaming charts and trending lists. Hits such as “Cura s kvarta,” “Ankaran” (feat. Biba), “7 ujutro,” and “Anđeo” (feat. Miach) made it onto the Billboard Croatia Songs chart.
His collaboration with Zsa Zsa on “Ova ljubav” earned him a Cesarica award, while “NLO” with Miach brought another nomination. He also received the Zlatni Studio award as a standout emergence in the music scene. His duet "Anđeo" consistently topped Croatia’s HR Top 100 and HR Top 40 radio charts.
Known for his dynamic live presence, his largest solo show took place at Zagreb’s Boćarski dom. He also performed in Pula’s Kaštel and participated in the Croatian "Masked Singer" as the character "Silly Monster," reaching the finale.
Musically, he blends trap, hip-hop, pop, and alternative elements, with lyrics that combine raw realism, social commentary, introspection, mental health themes, and spirituality.
