Hari Rončević was born on December 9, 1963, in Split, Croatia. He launched his musical career in 1994 at the Melodije hrvatskog Jadrana festival with the song “Getanin”, winning both the expert jury’s top prize and bronze for the audience. That same year saw the release of his debut album Buntovnik s razlogom. Since then, he has issued over 16 recordings—studio albums, live concerts, and compilations—including notable titles such as Žigolo, Mulac, Još tvog je poljupca, More sudbine, 390, Di god da pođen, and Best of – 25 godina.
Recognized for his melodic, heartfelt songs that often explore themes of love and longing—such as “Splite, volim te”, “Getanin”, “Moje si more”, “Kada jednom ovo zafalim se tilu”, “Aj ća, volin te”, and others—his music has become a staple of Croatian pop heritage. He has received numerous festival awards at events like Jadranske melodije, Zadarfest, Splitski festival, and Večeri dalmatinske šansone.
In addition to his solo work, Rončević has penned songs for celebrated artists such as Oliver Dragojević, Doris Dragović, and Klapa Cambi. His duet “Opet ću ti doć” with Klapa Cambi was especially well-received. On stage, he delivers passionate performances; defining concerts include shows at Zadar’s Jazine Hall, Split’s Gripe, and Zagreb’s Dom sportova. He marked his 30th anniversary in music with a special performance at Lisinski Concert Hall on May 13.
He values the emotional connection with his audience, often stating that his greatest reward is seeing the crowd sing his songs back to him. Splitting his time between Split and Zagreb, Rončević maintains a measured presence in media; even after thirty years in the business, he remains a beloved and authentic voice of Mediterranean songwriting.
