Fat Dog is a high-voltage five-piece band hailing from South London, formed in 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdowns. The lineup features frontman and guitarist Joe Love, drummer Johnny “Doghead” Hutch, keyboard/synth player Chris Hughes, saxophonist/keyboardist Morgan Wallace and bassist Jacqui Wheeler. They made their name through live shows that blur the line between concert, dance-floor and riot — friction, sweat and catharsis built into every performance.
Musically, Fat Dog mix punk rock ferocity with the pulse of electronic dance, the industrial edge and even klezmer flourishes – a wild and thrilling hybrid. Their breakout came with the single “King of the Slugs” in 2023, and the following year they signed with Domino Recording Company ahead of releasing their debut album WOOF. (September 2024), a bold, unfiltered collection that declares their intent to make “screaming-into-a-pillow music”.
Visually and performatively, Fat Dog are unmistakable: a drummer in a latex dog mask, a frontman in full preacher-punk regalia, an audience that isn’t just watching but joining in. While many contemporary bands chase serious artistry, Fat Dog lean into release, chaos and communal euphoria. As such, they’ve emerged as one of the most thrilling new British acts — unafraid to break genre boundaries and engage you physically as well as emotionally.
