Eminem (Marshall Bruce Mathers III), born October 17, 1972, in Detroit, Michigan, is an American rapper, songwriter, and producer who remains one of the most influential figures in hip-hop history. He introduced his alter ego Slim Shady in the late 1990s, rising to fame with The Slim Shady LP (1999).
His most recent album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), was released in July 2024 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. In May 2025, Eminem’s publishing company, Eight Mile Style, filed a lawsuit against Meta seeking around $109 million over alleged unauthorized use of his music on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. He has also invested in ventures aiming to bring a WNBA franchise back to Detroit.
A documentary film titled Stans, centered around fans and featuring unreleased material, is slated for global release August 7–10, 2025, accompanied by an official soundtrack release that expands on Eminem’s personal and creative journey.
