Jared Leonardo Lee, professionally known as Duckwrth, was born on May 13, 1989, in South Central Los Angeles. Raised in a Christian household and surrounded by music from an early age, he initially pursued graphic design before fully embracing music as his creative path.
He began by releasing songs online and gained wider attention in 2015 through a collaboration with The Kickdrums on the project Nowhere. In 2016, he released his debut album I’m Uugly, establishing a style that blends hip hop, R&B, and experimental sounds. This was followed by mixtapes and EPs including An Xtra Uugly Mixtape, The Falling Man, SG8, and Chrome Bull. His 2020 album SuperGood marked a significant evolution in his sound, reach, and artistic range.
Duckwrth is known for channeling real life into his music—struggle, insecurity, identity, and also celebration of creativity and self-discovery. His songs often combine rap and singing, over dynamic and experimental production. His work has appeared in TV, film, and advertising, integrating his music into broader culture.
His visual style, fashion choices, and overall artistic presentation are unique, bold, and deeply personal—more than just an accessory to his music. He values independence and shapes his projects on his own terms, continually pushing genre boundaries. Today, Duckwrth is recognized as an artist who not only entertains, but challenges listeners, inspires dialogue, and connects through honesty and emotion.
