Divanhana is a music ensemble from Bosnia and Herzegovina, founded in 2009 in Sarajevo by students of the Sarajevo Music Academy. The group focuses on preserving and reinventing the traditional genre of sevdalinka, blending it with modern elements of jazz, pop, and classical music. Their sound is characterized by emotional expression, rich arrangements, and a contemporary touch that resonates with diverse audiences.
Their debut album Dert, released in 2011, featured rare traditional songs performed in a fresh, modern way. In 2013, they released Bilješke iz Šestice, inspired by their extensive touring throughout Europe and the growing popularity of their dynamic live performances.
Over the years, Divanhana has released several critically acclaimed albums including Zukva, Kardeš, and Zavrzlama, each expanding their musical identity and exploring new artistic directions. Zavrzlama, released in 2022, marked a high point in their career, earning wide recognition for its emotional depth and musical innovation.
The group is also known for collaborating with international artists and for their commitment to cultural education. Through concerts, workshops, and community projects, Divanhana continues to connect the richness of Balkan heritage with the sounds of the contemporary world.
