Brkovi is a punk-folk band from Zagreb, Croatia, formed in 2004. A major turning point came in 2007 when vocalist Vedran Pehar, also known as Shamso69, joined the group. His arrival introduced a distinctive songwriting voice that defined the band’s identity. Brkovi are known for their eclectic blend of genres including punk rock, turbo-folk, metal, folk music, and reggae, which they call punk-folk-wellness.
Their debut album "PunkFolkWellness" was released in 2009 and quickly gained popularity through online distribution and word of mouth on social media. Subsequent albums such as "Društvo brkatih mladića", "Balkanski esperanto", "Hormon sreće", and "Krvava novčanica" reinforced their reputation as a truly unique act. Their lyrics are often provocative and ironic, dealing with everyday life, vices, emotions, and social topics, delivered with raw musical energy.
Brkovi have performed extensively across Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, as well as in European countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, and Canada. In 2024, they celebrated 20 years of activity with a series of concerts, including a major anniversary show at Zagreb’s Šalata stadium.
Their most popular songs include "Bolje da sam s frendovima pio rujno vino", "Opasno se drogiram", "Hoću da mi dijete sluša narodnjake", and "Više ni pankeri ne slušaju punk". Known for their energetic performances, satirical lyrics, and genre-defying approach, Brkovi stand out as a singular force in the music scene of the Balkans.
