Biography - Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath is a legendary British rock band from Birmingham, formed in 1968. The original four members were Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), Bill Ward (drums), and Ozzy Osbourne (vocals). They are widely considered the pioneers of heavy metal, known for their dark themes and heavy guitar riffs that defined a new musical genre.
Their early albums, such as Black Sabbath, Paranoid, and Master of Reality, are regarded as cornerstones of heavy metal music. Songs like "Iron Man", "War Pigs", and "Paranoid" became genre anthems. Throughout the 1970s, the band enjoyed major commercial success, although frequent lineup changes marked their history.
Osbourne left the band in 1979 and was replaced by Ronnie James Dio, with whom they released acclaimed albums like Heaven and Hell. The original lineup reunited in the late 1990s, and in 2013 they released the album 13. Their farewell tour took place in 2016–2017, ending a long and influential career. Black Sabbath remains a symbol of heavy metal and one of the most important names in rock history.
