Apocalyptica

Apocalyptica is a Finnish symphonic metal band formed in 1993 in Helsinki. They are known for their unique fusion of classical music and heavy metal, performing on cellos. The group was founded by Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja, and Antero Manninen, all classically trained musicians. They gained international fame with their debut album Plays Metallica by Four Cellos (1996), featuring Metallica covers. Later albums such as Inquisition Symphony and Cult introduced original compositions and collaborations with renowned vocalists. They are known for working with artists like Ville Valo, Corey Taylor, and Till Lindemann. Their style blends elements of classical, metal, and rock music, creating a distinctive crossover sound. Apocalyptica has achieved global popularity, touring worldwide and leaving a lasting impact on the symphonic metal scene.
