Nada Polić, better known by her stage name Ana Bekuta, is a Serbian folk singer and one of the most recognised performers of popular and folk music in the former Yugoslavia. Born on 6 September 1959 in Priboj, Serbia, she began developing her musical career at a young age. Her first notable public appearance came in 1974, when she participated in the music competition Prvi glas Priboja and finished as the runner-up. She later adopted the stage name Ana Bekuta, which became closely associated with her successful career.
She released her first album in 1985, marking the beginning of a long and successful recording journey. Over the years, she has released more than twenty studio albums and established herself as one of the leading voices of Serbian folk music. Songs such as “Bekrija”, “Crven konac”, “Veseljak”, “Zlatiborske zore”, and “Kralj ponoći” became some of the defining recordings of her career and remain widely recognised among audiences throughout the region.
Throughout her career, Ana Bekuta has performed at numerous concerts and events, building a strong connection with audiences through her traditional approach to folk music and her expressive vocal performances. In addition to her singing career, Bekuta has become known as a television personality. Since 2014, she has been a permanent judge and mentor on the popular music competition show “Zvezde Granda”, where she shares her experience and helps guide new generations of singers.
