Aerodrom is a Croatian rock band formed in 1978 in Zagreb and stands as one of the notable acts of the former Yugoslav rock scene. Founded and led by guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter Jurica “Jura” Pađen, the band’s music spans a range of styles including progressive rock, new wave, rock, and pop rock. Throughout their long career, Aerodrom has made a lasting impact on the music scene in Croatia and beyond.
The original lineup featured Jurica Pađen alongside vocalist Zlatan Živković, bassist Remo Krstanović Cartagine, drummer Paolo Sfeci, and keyboardist Mladen Krajnik. In their early years, the group embraced a progressive rock sound, and their debut album Kad misli mi vrludaju showcased intricate arrangements that captured public attention. With the arrival of their 1981 album Tango Bango, Aerodrom shifted to a more radio-friendly new wave–influenced style, producing several popular hits and gaining wider recognition.
The band’s most significant commercial success came with their 1983 album Obične ljubavne pjesme, which solidified their place in the regional music scene. During the 1980s, Aerodrom continued to release albums rooted in pop rock and scored numerous memorable songs that became part of the rock canon of the region. By 1987, the band disbanded as Pađen pursued collaborations with other prominent Zagreb music groups.
After over a decade of hiatus, Aerodrom reformed in 2000 with Pađen again at the helm as vocalist and guitarist, joined by new members. Since then, the band has released several studio albums, including Na travi, Rock @ Roll, Taktika noja, and Dnevni rituali, demonstrating their capacity to evolve while maintaining their rock roots. These later works display Aerodrom’s adaptability and sustained creative drive across changing musical landscapes.
Aerodrom’s enduring presence over more than four decades highlights their role as a resilient force in rock music, bridging generations of fans. Their blend of melodic hooks, rock energy, and stylistic versatility has ensured that their music remains influential and appreciated by listeners both in Croatia and internationally.
