Dorotea “Doris” Dragović, born April 16, 1961 in Split, is a celebrated Croatian pop singer whose career spans over forty years. She began in the early 1980s as a member of the Split-based band More, releasing albums such as Hajde da se mazimo and Tigrica. In 1986, she launched her solo career and represented Yugoslavia at Eurovision that year with the song “Željo moja,” finishing in 11th place.
Her most iconic moment came representing Croatia at Eurovision in 1999 with “Marija Magdalena,” achieving fourth place—one of Croatia’s best-ever results—and promoting the album Krajem vijeka, which remains one of her most acclaimed releases.
Doris has released numerous studio albums, including Željo moja, Tužna je noć, Pjevaj srce moje, Dajem ti srce, Živim po svom, Lice, Malo mi za sriću triba, and Ja vjerujem. Her style is defined by emotionally rich ballads, commanding vocals, and heartfelt performance.
She has been married since 1990 to former water polo player Mario Budimir, with whom she has a son named Borna. Although her decision to perform in Montenegro in 2000 caused controversy among Hajduk Split fans, her legacy as a regional pop diva remained untouched.
Celebrated in the 1990s as the “Queen of Torcida,” Doris Dragović continues to perform actively, connecting with audiences across generations and maintaining her reputation as a powerful musical presence rooted in sincerity and artistry.
