The Museum of Ancient Glass in Zadar is a unique specialized museum dedicated to ancient glass and one of the few institutions of its kind in the world. Founded in 2006 and officially opened in 2009, the museum is located in the restored historicist Cosmacendi Palace dating from the second half of the 19th century. Its collection contains more than 5,000 glass objects from the period between the 1st century BC and the 5th century AD, while the permanent exhibition presents over 1,500 artefacts across eight thematic sections. In addition to the permanent display, the museum is known for its glassmaking workshops where traditional techniques such as hand glassblowing, glass jewellery production, and borosilicate glass crafting are demonstrated. The venue also includes two multifunctional halls used for exhibitions, lectures, book presentations, and documentary film screenings. Today, the museum represents an important combination of archaeology, education, heritage presentation, and cultural programming in Zadar.
