She Past Away is a Turkish post-punk and dark wave band formed in 2006 in Bursa by Volkan Caner (vocals and guitar) and İdris Akbulut (bass). The current lineup consists of Caner and Doruk Öztürkcan.
The band quickly became known for its distinctive fusion of post-punk roots and dark wave aesthetics, accompanied by a strong gothic visual identity. Their sound is heavily influenced by 1980s acts such as Joy Division, Depeche Mode, and Siouxsie and the Banshees, reflected in their dark melodies and atmospheric compositions.
Their first release was the EP Kasvetli Kutlama (2010), followed by their debut album Belirdi Gece (2012), which gained international attention within the alternative and gothic music scenes. The second album Narin Yalnızlık (2015) further strengthened their reputation, while Disko Anksiyete (2019) introduced more electronic and disco influences while maintaining their signature sound.
A key lineup change occurred in 2015 when Akbulut left the band, and producer Doruk Öztürkcan officially joined as a keyboardist and electronic programmer.
Musically, She Past Away blends post-punk, new wave, and gothic rock, gradually evolving toward a more electronic sound in later releases. Their use of Turkish-language lyrics adds a unique dimension and contributes to their international appeal.
Today, She Past Away is regarded as one of the leading contemporary dark wave acts, known for its atmospheric style, minimalist approach, and influence on the modern post-punk revival scene.
