Project Ilica: Q’ART is an interdisciplinary artistic initiative that revitalizes abandoned spaces in central Zagreb, particularly along Ilica Street, through collective artistic actions, educational programs, and festivals. Initiated in 2000 by Aleksandar Battista Ilić, the project is grounded in community art principles, social engagement, and participatory creation. Since 2017, it operates under the name Q’ART, emphasizing sustainability, inclusivity, and collaboration among artists, citizens, associations, and educational institutions.
The project's mission is to transform neglected urban spaces into vibrant cultural platforms that foster empathy, solidarity, and social cohesion. Through artistic interventions, performances, workshops, and therapeutic practices, Q’ART promotes social regeneration and actively involves the community in creative processes. To date, the project has engaged over 260,000 participants, organized 26 festival-actions, and activated 18 abandoned spaces in Zagreb.
Q’ART's vision is to create sustainable, inclusive, and connected communities through the synergy of art, ecology, and social solidarity. The project is expanding to other city districts, such as Špansko, where community festivals are organized, involving local artists and residents.
