Porto Morto are a seven-piece band from Zagreb, Croatia, formed in 2016. Part of the Croatian alternative music scene, they combine art rock, progressive pop and indie electronic music with an elaborate visual identity. Their activities encompass original albums and singles, collaborations with other musicians and artistic projects involving theatre.
The band made their recording debut in 2016 with the self-titled album “Porto Morto”. Their second album, “Portofon”, followed in 2019. A particularly notable collaboration from this period was “Hodaj”, a single recorded with Darko Rundek. The collaboration brought the band three nominations for the Porin music awards.
Their third album, “Portopop”, appeared in 2021. With this release, Porto Morto presented their own vision of pop music through singles including “Čekam ih”, “Vrijeme za čilanje” and “Fatamorgana”. The record earned them the Porin award for Best Alternative Album. Following “Porto Morto”, “Portofon” and “Portopop”, their discography also lists the album “Minimum” from 2026.
The group’s seven members cover vocals, guitars, keyboards, drums, percussion and wind instruments. Roko Crnić provides vocals and bass guitar, while Hrvoje Klemenčić contributes keyboards and vocals. Matija Brajković plays guitar, and Matej Perić plays drums. Marijan Uroić handles percussion. Antun Aleksa contributes trombone and vocals, while Marin Živković plays saxophone. Their instrumental line-up therefore includes both trombone and saxophone alongside guitars, keyboards and the rhythm section, with vocal duties shared among several members.
Beyond their recording work, Porto Morto participate in artistic projects that bring their music into a theatrical setting. These include providing musical accompaniment for productions such as “Nepoznata iz Seine”. Alongside their studio releases and the collaboration with Rundek, this theatre work forms another part of the Zagreb ensemble’s musical activities.
