Palaye Royale are an American rock band from Las Vegas, formed in 2008 by brothers Remington Leith, Sebastian Danzig and Emerson Barrett. Leith provides lead vocals, Danzig plays guitar and keyboards, and Barrett plays drums and piano. Drawing on the rock music of the 1960s and 1970s, their sound encompasses art rock, glam rock, garage rock and rock and roll. They describe themselves as a “fashion-art rock” band and cite influences including David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, the Doors, T. Rex and My Chemical Romance.
The brothers initially performed acoustic soft rock under the name Kropp Circle. They appeared on Radio Disney’s “Next Big Thing” programme in 2009 and released the EP “Who We Really Are” in 2010. In 2011, they adopted the name Palaye Royale, referencing Toronto’s Palais Royale dance hall, where their grandparents first met.
Their first single under the new name, “Morning Light”, arrived in 2012, followed by the EP “The End's Beginning” in 2013. In 2014, they became the first unsigned band to win MTV’s “Musical March Madness” tournament. They signed with Sumerian Records in late 2015.
Their debut studio album, “Boom Boom Room (Side A)”, was released in June 2016, with “Boom Boom Room (Side B)” following in September 2018. The band performed on Warped Tour and supported Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson on the “Twins of Evil” tour in 2019. Leith also supplied the singing voice for Johnny Faust in the 2017 film “American Satan”.
Their third album, “The Bastards”, arrived in 2020 after the pandemic interrupted their European tour. Further releases included “Fever Dream” in 2022, the EPs “Sextape” in 2023 and “Songs for Sadness” in 2024, and their fifth studio album, “Death or Glory”, in August 2024.
Palaye Royale won Rock Sound’s Best Breakthrough Artist award in 2018. Their British fans established “Palaye in the Park” gatherings, a practice subsequently adopted in other countries. In October 2026, the band announced their sixth album, “Amsterdamage”, scheduled for release in 2027.
