My Bloody Valentine

My Bloody Valentine is an Irish-English rock band formed in Dublin in 1983. The band was founded by Kevin Shields (vocals, guitar) and Colm Ó Cíosóig (drums), with Bilinda Butcher (vocals, guitar) and Debbie Googe (bass guitar) joining later. They are known as pioneers of the shoegaze genre, characterized by dense layers of distorted guitars, ethereal vocals, and complex production. Their debut album, Isn't Anything (1988), was a breakthrough in alternative music, but their true success came with the release of Loveless in 1991, considered one of the most influential albums of the 1990s and a shoegaze icon. The album's production was lengthy and costly, which caused problems with their record label. The band ceased activity in 1997 following Loveless. After a long hiatus, My Bloody Valentine reunited in 2007 and resumed live performances. In 2013, they released their third album m b v, praised as a worthy continuation of their earlier work. Their music continues to influence many modern bands, and My Bloody Valentine remain a key figure in the evolution of alternative and experimental music.
