Malehookers is a rock and roll band from Zagreb, formed in 1996. After participating in several festivals that year, the band entered the studio and recorded their first English-language album, released in the summer of 1997 under the title Malehookers by the then-label Jabukaton. The album received excellent reviews, and two singles were released from it: "Out of Control" and "Dead Horses," both accompanied by music videos.
In 1998, the band recorded a cover of the song "Čudna šuma" (also known as "Čuvajte nas, pazite nas") in collaboration with musicians such as Davor Gopac, Goran Baret, Davorin Bogović, Dubravko Ivaniš Ripper, Mile Kekin, and Alen Marin. The song became a hit and the official anthem of the "Crni Mačak" festival. Malehookers first performed this song live with Davorin Bogović at the first Crni Mačak in Čakovec in 1998.
That same year, the band released their second album Ruke Gore, Ovo je Pljačka through Croatia Records. After performing at the second "Crni Mačak" in Rijeka in 1999, the band ceased operations due to exhaustion from the controversies that followed them.
In mid-2008, frontman and main songwriter Jerry Alan Gabor reformed the band with a new lineup. They entered the studio with Janko Mlinarić Truli and recorded new material for the album Muški Svijet, released in November 2009 by Menart. The album was recorded using analog equipment, with no instrument used being younger than 1974. The insistence on a vintage sound resulted in excellent production that rivals global rock and roll standards.
The album's themes encompass love for alcohol, selfish women, and the uncertainties of wild living, which have led the band members through numerous emotional breakdowns that they successfully translated into lyrics and music. The album received excellent reviews, and singles like "Zagrebačko Zlo," "Bolje da Ovdje Ostane Sani," and "Najgora" became major hits.
The band has performed in cities such as Rijeka, Sisak, Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Čakovec, and Osijek, and in 2011 had the opportunity to be the opening act for major acts like Slayer and Megadeth in Zagreb, as well as Whitesnake and Judas Priest in Belgrade.
