Kapote, the head of the Toy Tonics label, has a long history of producing dance music, being a DJ and one of the leading figures of the Berlin dance scene. Before starting Toy Tonics, he produced singles and albums for the likes of Peaches, James Murphy and Nancy Whang (of LCD Soundsystem), Bobby Conn, Graffiti legends The Rammellzee, WhoMadeWho and many others. In order to create a new kind of publishing world - for the emerging forms of house and disco (not techno, trance or EDM which are the opposite vibe) - he started Toy Tonics with two friends. With Toy Tonics, Kapote has created a family of labels with all kinds of musicians, keyboardists and drummers who are also DJs and record collectors, representing a very strong funky musical vibe of their own. As a DJ, he usually only plays at Toy Tonics Jams - but he can also be asked to do special solo shows. Kapote, better known as Mathias Modica, who some may also know from his former label Gommarecords, where he produced under the name Munk, plays a wild mix of funk-oriented music. From rare disco edits and Italian disco to modern house, futuristic broken beat and funky new wave. And of course, he plays a lot of Toy Tonics records. It's always euphoric. A cornerstone of the Milan club scene.
