Halestorm is an American rock band formed in 1997 in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. It was founded by siblings Lzzy Hale and Arejay Hale, who began writing and performing original music as teenagers.
The current lineup includes Lzzy Hale (vocals and guitar), Arejay Hale (drums), Joe Hottinger (guitar), and Josh Smith (bass). Their sound blends hard rock, heavy metal, and alternative metal elements.
After signing with Atlantic Records, the band released their self-titled debut album Halestorm in 2009, marking the beginning of their rise in the international rock scene. Their breakthrough came with the second album The Strange Case Of... (2012), whose single “Love Bites (So Do I)” won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance.
Subsequent releases, including Into the Wild Life (2015) and Vicious (2018), achieved strong chart success and solidified their reputation. The band is widely known for its relentless touring schedule and high-energy performances, often playing up to 250 shows per year and appearing at major international festivals.
Over the years, Halestorm has developed a signature sound that balances aggression with melody, driven by Lzzy Hale’s powerful vocal delivery. Their music frequently explores themes of empowerment, identity, and emotional struggle, resonating strongly with audiences.
With continued releases, including Back from the Dead (2022) and newer projects, Halestorm remains a major force in modern rock, recognized for its distinctive style and dynamic live performances.
