The Gypsy Philharmonic Orchestra is a Hungarian symphony orchestra founded in 2014 in Budapest. The orchestra consists of 65 members and is unique in that it does not use sheet music during performances, instead playing music from the heart, allowing for a strong emotional connection with the audience. Their repertoire includes classical works by composers such as Brahms, Strauss, Liszt, and Tchaikovsky, as well as traditional Hungarian Romani music and film scores, including pieces by John Williams from the film Schindler's List.
Orchestra members have trained at music conservatories and academies, and many are connected by family ties. Although most members are from Hungary, the orchestra is open to musicians of all nationalities who share a passion for Romani music.
