Damien Rice

Damien George Rice (born December 7, 1973, in Dublin) is an Irish singer-songwriter and producer, known for his emotive ballads that blend elements of folk, indie rock, and acoustic music. His musical career began in the 1990s as a member of the rock band Juniper, which signed with a record label in 1997. After leaving the band in 1998, Rice spent some time working as a farmer in Tuscany and busking across Europe before returning to Ireland in 2001 to start his solo career. Rice's debut album O was released in 2002 and immediately gained critical acclaim. Singles like "The Blower's Daughter" and "Cannonball" became international hits, and the album reached high chart positions. He continued his success with his second album 9 (2006) and third, My Favourite Faded Fantasy (2014), which came after an eight-year hiatus. Rice is known for his minimalist production approach and sincere lyrics that often explore themes of love, loss, and introspection. His music is frequently featured in films and television series, and he has collaborated with numerous artists, including Lisa Hannigan.
